Timber Competition model – winning scheme

Make Models was fortunate enough to pair up with the team at Milieu Property to make a model for their competition for Macquarie Point in Hobart. The scheme, which ended up winning, was for a culturally significant site on Hobart’s waterfront. The context was one of a steep edge rising up to a park and as such it was important to inform the competition jury of the building’s consideration of context.

The physical model was crafted in solid contoured timber with CNC milled solid timber and clear acrylic proposed buildings. The buildings were deliberately paired back at 1:500 scale to show form, links to pedestrian routes and greenspaces.

This model was helpful to the successful bid on the project and was later used as a centrepiece in the unveiling of the project by the Tasmanian Government
